To mark the
millennium, a comprehensive history of Houghton and Bossington was published at the end of 2000. The book is packed full of information about the history of the two villages from pre-Roman times, through
Medieval and Early Modern times to the present day. It contains a wealth of wonderful
photographs depicting the villages as they were in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, including many great
local characters and some of the beautiful houses and buildings. It is full of
historical fact and contains priceless, evocative personal reminiscences.
