Houghton W.I. meets at 7.30pm on the 3rd Monday in the month at Houghton Village Hall.  The W.I. actively supports village activities as well as running an interesting programme for members.   At each meeting there is a "Bloom of the Month" competition and second hand book stall to raise funds for ACWW, country women abroad.  There is also a sales table.  A good finger supper is served after the meeting.  For more information call Jill Ashton on 01264 334593 or email Jillykins@andover56.freeserve.co.uk

September Report. Having broken her right wrist Jean Featherstone's role has been taken over by Jane Anderton who writes-

Houghton WI met on 15th September, when members were treated to a talk and demomstration by the very experienced tutor May Martin. May has been a tutor in soft furnishing, dress making and craft for many years, and she teaches at the WI's Denham College and Peter Simonds in Winchester, as well as classes elsewhere. May gave members a fascinating talk on ways of using up odds and ends of soft furnishing materials, and demonstrated how to make a wide variety of bages, boxes, cushion covers and table runners, as well as various small gifts. Her enthusiasm was infectious and members left with lots of ideas for projects to do at home.

Next Meeting- October 20th.

Speaker will be Sarah George on Physiotherapy.
