Parish Council Notes from the meeting held on 7th September
2009:
Matters arising from minutes of 6th July 2009:
• Salt/grit box at Lodge Hill-the Clerk reported that
HCC had agreed to the installation.
• Provision of allotments-Cllr Butler reported that due to the sad and untimely
death of Mr Fairey the subject of the land behind River Cottage would not be able to be pursued whilst the Estate affairs
were being sorted out. Cllr Burt suggested that the land behind Steven's Drove also bordering the Recreation Ground might
be a suitable site. This was discussed and it was agreed that the Busk might be approached
Correspondence

HCC had announced a subsidy for the Pass Plus initiative for newly qualified drivers. It was agreed that a notice would be
published in the magazine detailing the scheme.
Playground report:
• The Chairman stated
that he had canvassed opinion around the village about the goalpost and had received little complaint. Cllr Burt then commented
that she had also been asking parishioners for their opinions and that on the whole the goalpost did work for those who use
it, but she added that there were those who found it obtrusive including herself. Mr and Mrs Gosse concurred with Cllr Burt
and it was agreed that the Clerk would ask if the second goalpost could be installed without the basketball hoop.
Planning,
the following decisions had been received from TVBC:
• Demolition of existing pump house and installation
of new submersible pumping station and control cabinet at 7 Stephens Drove and at The Flats, Stevens Drove-approval

Erection of extension at 2 Manor Farm Cottages-permission
• Demolition of existing timber framed store and erection
of new store at The Boot-permission Parish Matters-Councillors
• Cllr Burt asked about the outcome of the planning
appeal for the outbuilding at Vine Cottage. The Chairman explained that the appeal had been rejected. Cllr Burt stated that
she found the decision difficult to understand.
• Cllr Kennesion asked that the Houghton Fishing Club be contacted
again about the Ash trees by Riverside Cottage with a view to having them taken down. Cllr Burt said that she would talk to
Ray Hill as soon possible.
• Rural Settlements Boundary Review: Cllr Boulton (TVBC) stressed
the importance of the review and urged the Council to meet with a representative of TVBC to hear what the review entailed.
The Chairman explained that TVBC had set up the Review in order to define settlement boundaries. At present the 'brown
line' which marks the land deemed acceptable for development is considered to be correct by the Parish Council. The Chairman
stated that the Council would be commenting on the initial papers sent by TVBC and would be keeping a very close eye on developments.
